If some of you are like me I feel the baseball itch coming on already. I
know it may seem early, but there is always work to be done. As most of you
know I opened up a baseball hitting facility last February for all Mohawk
players. I also had five travel teams in there. I felt the first year went
pretty well with some good results from those that attended. I feel our
baseball program will only get better if we get more people involved. I
truly believe there are some good days ahead for Mohawk baseball. Some
sources I know outside the area say that
Mason City is high on the watch list for
Iowa baseball. With
that being the case we could have some good opportunities for the boys to
showcase their abilities to college scouts.
At the present time, there are a group of young men that are regularly
utilizing the facility in the off season. Many of them are lifting together
at the high school and then coming over to finish up with some hitting.
Several of these kids are going on weekends as well. I know a lot of kids
are out for other sports which is great, but I want to be sure everyone
knows that between pitching and catching workouts in the underground and my
hitting facility, there is always something available for everyone to do.
If your son is not quite sure what is available for them they can contact
Coach Rood, myself, or one of the four varsity captains, which are Lee
Gealow, Jake Peter, Brandon Platts, and Ryan Voves any of which would be
more then happy to help you out.
The main purpose of this message is to make sure everyone is aware that the
facility is available and to make sure I have included everyone in this
message that is interested in baseball. Please look at the mailbox and see
if there are some families that you might know that are missing from this
email. I'm sure there are quite a few from last year's sophomore team not
included. If you know of anyone else that should receive this, please
forward this message on or let me know. If you would like to see my
facility and get some more information, please feel free to contact me. For
those of you whose membership will need to be renewed by
February 1st, I will be sending an email to you about this.
Current Baseball Facility Hours
Monday - Friday 6:00am - 8:00am and
3:30pm - 6:00pm (on days it is snowing there may be a delay in
getting the facility open)
Saturday and Sunday - 10:00am - 6:00pm
Christmas Break hours/Days with no school will also be
10:00am - 6:00pm
Time after
6:00pm will be reserved for travel teams
